MATERNITY/NEWBORN FAQ
How would payment work?
A $50 retainer is due at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due at the time of the photography session.
Payment can be paid via e-transfer, or Cash. I cannot accept credit or debit at this time.
How do I get my Images?
Your photos will be ready within 2–3 weeks and delivered to your inbox in a private online gallery. You can easily download them to your phone or computer — and share the link with friends and family so they can enjoy the magic too!
Where are the Maternity Sessions taken?
I absolutely love the outdoors — nature always makes a dreamy backdrop — but what matters most is that your session feels like you. Whether that’s a golden field, a cozy coffee shop, your favourite beach, or even a tucked-away bookstore, I’m all in.
The final location will depend on the season and your session vibe, and we’ll lock it in about a week beforehand. If you have a spot that’s special to you, don’t hesitate to suggest it — some of my favourite sessions have happened in places that mean something to the people in front of my lens.
What is the best time for Maternity sessions to be booked?
Typically, the best time for a session to be held is during the Golden hour - 1 hour before sunset. Depending on the location, I would suggest holding the session 1.5-2 hours before sunset.Saying that, there’s something to be said about the glory of morning light! If you are interested in an early morning session, please reach out and we can work around both our schedules to find a date that works.
When should I book my Maternity session?
The best time to book your maternity session is entirely up to you! I suggest booking your maternity session sometime between the 28-35-week mark so that your adorable baby bump is visible, but you can still move around comfortably. This time frame also provides a bit of a buffer incase the little bundle of joy decides to try and sneak into the world early.
If it rains day of the MATERNITY session what happens?
Mother Nature can certainly get in the way sometimes, but not to worry! If it's raining the day of your session, we will wait approximately 2 hours to make the call before canceling the shoot. If it is still raining, or it has been a heavy rain and I am concerned about the mud, we will reschedule the session for another day.
Where are the Newborn Sessions taken?
Your little one has arrived and that is so exciting! To ensure you and baby are as comfortable as possible, all newborn sessions are shot in the comfort of your own home. That way, you don't have to worry about travel and both you and baby will be at ease in a familiar place.
When do we book the Newborn session?
We’ll use your due date to pencil in a tentative session, but since babies love their own timelines, I recommend reaching out once your little one has arrived. From there, we’ll find a date within that first week that feels right for you.
Since sessions take place in your home, we’ll choose a time that works best for you and baby. I’ll suggest times based on natural light, but your comfort and routine come first. Once baby is here and you’ve settled in a bit, we’ll finalize the details together — no stress needed!
Why do we need 2-3 hours for the newborn session?
Over time, I’ve fallen in love with a blend of posed and lifestyle newborn photography — a mix that captures both the tiny details and the real, cozy moments of your baby’s first days at home.
Every session is guided by your little one’s pace. Some babies snooze right through, others need a bit more time (and cuddles). That’s why I set aside 2–3 hours, giving us the flexibility to pause, settle, and capture all the moments that matter most to you.
Can I bring my own props or outfits to the sessions?
Certainly! If you have some cute things for baby to wear or something that has special meaning to you like a family heirloom, or Dad’s favourite baseball or special outfit, I’d love to include it! Simply let me know ahead of time so that we can brainstorm some ideas and get creative!
