MATERNITY/NEWBORN FAQ

How would payment work?

A $50 retainer is due at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due at the time of the photography session.

Payment can be paid via e-transfer, or Cash. I cannot accept credit or debit at this time.

How do I get my Images?

Your photos should be ready 1-3 weeks following your session. The finished images are sent via an online gallery to your email. From there you can download the images to your phone, desktop, or hard drive of choice. You will also be able to send them to your friends and family by simply providing them with your private gallery link.

Where are the Maternity Sessions taken?

I love exploring the outdoors and nature always makes for the perfect backdrop, thus all my lifestyle sessions are scheduled in a beautiful, outdoor location. This location will vary depending on the session and time of year and we will decide on the exact location no later than 1 week prior to the session. Of course, if you have a specific location in mind please don’t hesitate to suggest it! Many of my clients have chosen locations that are special to them or their family and those have been some of my favourite experiences!

What is the best time for Maternity sessions to be booked?

Typically, the best time for a session to be held is during the Golden hour - 1 hour before sunset. Depending on the location, I would suggest holding the session 1.5-2 hours before sunset.Saying that, there’s something to be said about the glory of morning light! If you are interested in an early morning session, please reach out and we can work around both our schedules to find a date that works.

When should I book my Maternity session?

The best time to book your maternity session is entirely up to you! I suggest booking your maternity session sometime between the 28-35-week mark so that your adorable baby bump is visible, but you can still move around comfortably. This time frame also provides a bit of a buffer incase the little bundle of joy decides to try and sneak into the world early.

If it rains day of the MATERNITY session what happens?

Mother Nature can certainly get in the way sometimes, but not to worry! If it's raining the day of your session, we will wait approximately 2 hours to make the call before canceling the shoot. If it is still raining, or it has been a heavy rain and I am concerned about the mud, we will reschedule the session for another day.

Where are the Newborn Sessions taken?

Your little one has arrived and that is so exciting! To ensure you and baby are as comfortable as possible, all newborn sessions are shot in the comfort of your own home. That way, you don't have to worry about travel and both you and baby will be at ease in a familiar place.

When do we book the Newborn session?

We can set a tentative date for the newborn session based off your due date, but as we know, babies run on their own schedule and may have other plans. For this reason, I suggest picking the date for your session once the baby has been born. Simply shoot me a message when the bundle of joy has arrived, and we’ll find a date within the first week of birth. I find this process helps to relieve stress about rebooking if the baby comes early or decides to stay snug a little longer!
As for the time of the session, since we are doing it in your home, we go off the schedule that works best for you and baby. I will suggest specific times based on lighting for the time of year but at the end of the day it’s most important that we pick a time that you and baby prefer. The exact time for the session will be determined once the date has been set and you have a better idea of how everything is going for yourself and your little bundle of joy.

Why do we need 2-3 hours for the newborn session?

When I first began photographing newborns, I focused on “posed newborn” photography but over the years I have discovered the beauty of “lifestyle newborn” photography and its capacity to truly capture the story of your first few days with your baby. Thus, I have combined the two styles for all future packages to maximize the number of beautiful moments I can capture for you.

This combination style of newborn photography can sometimes require more time than usual as newborn babies can get fussy and cranky. Every baby is different, some babies sleep well and only take an hour while other babies can take much longer. Essentially the 2-3 hours allows us the flexibility to ensure that we have enough time to get all the shots that are important to you and your family.

Can I bring my own props or outfits to the sessions?

Certainly! If you have some cute things for baby to wear or something that has special meaning to you like a family heirloom, or Dad’s favourite baseball or special outfit, I’d love to include it! Simply let me know ahead of time so that we can brainstorm some ideas and get creative!
