Winter wonderland of love.

It was about time I featured an engagement session on the blog, and honestly, I knew exactly which one I wanted to start with.

Jackie and Ben's session has been living rent-free in my brain ever since it happened. Fresh snow, adorable moments, endless laughter, and a special guest appearance from the beautiful Rubi! It was basically a photographer's dream.

The whole session felt like stepping into a winter fairytale, and I can't wait to show you why it's one of my all-time favourites.

Picking the Perfect location!

I first met Jackie and Ben back in 2023 when they booked me as their wedding photographer. And somehow, that was over two years ago now, which honestly feels wild because it seems like just yesterday!

From the very beginning, Jackie and Ben knew they wanted a winter engagement session. And honestly? Say less. I love the snow and will happily brave the cold for a magical winter session.

As Jackie and I chatted about possible locations, she mentioned Springwater Conservation Area. Not only was it a place that was special to both of them because they spent so much time there with Rubi during COVID, but it was also where Ben proposed.

The moment I heard that it was part of their story, I was sold. There was no better place to capture this chapter of their journey together.

MAGIC WAS CREATED!!

Fast forward to January 2024, and it was finally time for Jackie and Ben's engagement session at Springwater Conservation Area.

And let me tell you, we could not have ordered a more perfect winter day if we tried. The snow was gently falling, the trails looked like something out of a winter fairytale, the temperature was actually comfortable, and Rubi absolutely stole the show.

Of course, we made our way to all of their favourite spots along the trails, including the exact place where Ben proposed. Getting to photograph them in a location that held so much meaning to their story made the entire session feel even more special.

Between the laughter, the snowy magic, and watching these two together, everything just clicked. I was already excited to photograph their wedding day, but after this session? It instantly became one of the weddings I was counting down the days for.

Until the Wedding Bells Rang...

Looking back on Jackie and Ben's winter engagement session, it's easy to see why it remains one of my favourites. Between the snowy trails of Springwater Conservation Area, the special guest appearance from Rubi, and a location that was already such an important part of their story, every part of this session felt meaningful.

One of the things I love most about engagement sessions is that they're about so much more than the photos. They're a chance for us to get to know each other, laugh, have fun, and help everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. By the time the wedding day arrives, it feels less like you've hired a photographer and more like a friend is there to celebrate alongside you.

And if this session was any indication of what was to come, I knew Jackie and Ben's wedding day was going to be something truly special. Thankfully, they didn't disappoint.
